Everyone knows that the real estate market is in the toilet. Unfortunately for me - I work in real estate. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE my job. I have worked myself up to a good position, I have very loyal clients and I have the respect of a lot of the people in the industry in my community. I am far from the best but I am pretty darn good I think. Back to the point, it is still a business and I still work for a large corporation. I had to take a 10% pay cut last month. And there is the possibility that in the next month or so, my hours will be cut as well.
Money is tight, we got used to the big money that was coming in when the market was good. needless to say, I cannot afford to have my hours cut. Now the dilemma - - there is the possibility that I can work for another company but it would mean a COMPLETE change of career. And I have to do it soon as there is a maximum age at which you can start. I only have a little window in which to make this decision. The new job has a TON of promotional potential. It pays well. It is a big commute for me as I am used to less than a mile from my house to the office, this will be 45 miles each way. It has an awesome retirement - which I do not have now.
I love my current job but I love my family more - it seems my decision should be easy but I guess I need to get on my knees.

TOFW = Happiness
I attended Time Out for Couples last night in Reno! It was awesome!!!!
The Walkers, who are the President and Matron of the Salt Lake Temple hosted the event. Elia Something spoke, and Jenny Jordan Frogley and Abe Mills (from the group Jericho Road) sang. Kel and I had a wonderful time ~ it is a great experience to remind us what is really important ~ us.
Kel is the best husband ever. I cannot imagine a better friend, lover or father. I am grateful that he saw something in me that made him want to be with me.

Moving on.......
Colton moved out today. He went to stay with his grandparents until he gets a date to go to Basic Training for the Air Force. I am sad to not have him around. I know in my head that he needs to get out into the world, make his own way and grow up. It is my heart that really does not want to let go.
It is a strong attachment that I have for my first born. With his birth, I became a woman, an adult, a parent and scared out of my mind. From the moment they put him in my arms, I couldn't imagine my life without him. He became everything to me, my air, my happiness. I knew in an instant that I would do anything for him, that I loved him fiercely.
In what seems a blink of an eye, he is gone. He has grown tall and strong. He has a good heart. I admire that he wants to obtain something more that what our small town has to offer. He is brave and I know that he will have a great life.
I wish him success in everything he does. I pray that he will be safe. I hope that he knows I love him and I am only a phone call away.
Colton, I will miss and love you everyday!

Crazed Fan Alert!!!!
I am totally stoked! I have to opportunity to volunteer at the Time Out for Women and Couples this weekend in Reno, NV. I have been asked to drive a few of the presenters from the airport to the hotel one of them being, the one and only Jenny Jordan Frogley!
I met her at my first Time Out in Sacramento a few years back. She was performing with George Dyer, another great artist.
Her music is awesome. I especially love her song "I came to Win". With all my issues of late - it has become my personal theme song.
Now, I just have to calm myself so I don't scare anyone! ;o)

Vampires and Werewolves, oh my!
I have been called to serve as the Young Womens President in my ward. It makes no sense as I have zero daughters and was completely uncool in high school. I figure that Heavenly Father must know something that I don't. Which is NOT all that suprising. I am rolling wih it.
So, when the girls were at my house last week for mutual, they were talking about a book that they all like-totally loved (you know how teenage girls are!) I thought what the heck - maybe I will read it just to see what they are talking about.
So Friday after work I went to WalMart and got the book. I read and read and read - straight til morning. I loved it. I went back to Wal Mart and bought the other 3 books and finished them all this weekend!
I know, it is complete fantasy, but so romantic. Ahhhhhhh. I am mesmerized. Edward and Bella - a beautiful story, I wish it could go on and on. Has anyone else read the series?

Little League
Today was day 1 of the Section II Little League Tournament (13 - 14 yr olds) Ian is on the Susanville All Star Team. The Susanville Team won the District 48 Tournament in Portola CA a couple weeks ago. Today we played Red Bluff and what a great game. We went into to bottom of the 7th inning down 6 -1. The team starting hitting and by the end we won 7 -6. Ian was crazy excited to go back in the game during the 7th inning, and got up to bat with bases loaded and only 1 out. He took 3 balls and had 2 strikes. Full Count. The pitch came, Ian swung, and the ball went right between the third basemans legs! He knocked in the winning run!!!! He has been on cloud 9 ever since.
I so love baseball!

Graduation
I find it hard to believe that Colton is not my little baby any more but he is growing into a fine young man, a few bumps and lumps along the way, but he has a bright future.

Male Enhancement
When I can't sleep ~ I watch T.V., like everyone else in America. There are stange commercials on late at night. I just saw one for a "male enhancement" pill, that warns men that if they experience the effects for more that 4 hours they should see a Dr. Once again, I know I am a jackass, but I would love to try that just once.
Time Flies......
When you are having a good time, or just not paying attention.
The kitchen plans are going great, I ordered a frige and oven from Ebay. I have picked out the tile; fell in love with some Corian for the countertop, still waiting for the bids to come in for the cabinets but I am a little worried about the husbands plans to do the dry wall. I love him and his desire to want to do the work, but just last year we had to replace the wall in the livingroom. Hanging the dry wall went great, it is the taping and texture that is the problem. It is lumpy, not flat. You can see where all the tape is and the texture is nowhere close to the rest of the walls. I had to rearrange the whole room to cover it with the entertainment center and some shelves. I keep saying that one lumpy wall in a house is more that enough, I am not sure that he is hearing it!! grrrrrr.

Things people talk about....
So, I am at a friends house for dinner and somehow the topic went to ~heated~ toilet seats. I did not realize until last night that I have an opinion, a strong one, when it comes to the subject of ~heated~ toilet seats.
Sure at first glance, and on a COLD morning a ~heated~ toilet seat might sound nice. But no, I have a flash back to a family reunion. I had to pee, but the bathroom was occupied. After a few minutes, the door flies open, an awful stench and a very large man are not far behind. In my innocence I run right in and sit on the ~heated~ toilet seat. GROSSNESS!!!
I want my seat cold and fresh, thank you.

Truth
James Frey and his memoir "A Million Little Pieces" has had a lot of press. Mostly about the article posted on the Smoking Gun website. I read the book, I was deeply shaken by it. It was not the "details" of the crimes he committed, but the emotional and physical turmoil that he had to wade his way through. He came out a better person. That is all that matters.
He is going to be on Oprah again today.

Football
I normally do not watch football on tv. I prefer a good chick flick! But I could not stop surfing back to the Steelers / Colts game today. It was a great game. And I must say, being from Pennsylvania, YEAH STEELERS!!! May they go all the way! I will be watching.
Year of the Diva
I was talking with a friend last week and she has decided that this is the year she becomes a Diva. I did not realize that one could just decide to become a Diva. She had laser eye surgery, new hair do, fake nails, and a facial wax job (that I must say ~ did not get everything). I guess if she is happy - then more power to her! Go Girlfriend.
I am not one for New Years Resolutions, I do like to evaluate myself from time to time. Just to see what track I am on. I generally am not on the "right track" but I am heading in a good direction. I am recommiting myself to going to the gym on a regular basis. And I am checking in weekly with my S.I.L. via email, just to hold myself accountable for my eating habits. I do better when I have to admit what I am putting in my body!!! I am not looking to be skinny - just smaller.
I did put fake nails on during Christmas. I am going to have to get them removed. I do feel more girly with them on, but they really get in the way. I fear them getting to long and causing me pain in the bathroom! EEWWW!!! I know - very gross thought, but someone has to say it! Sorry.
